My friend Conrad is the mysterious mammal behind the music of Ndevu Nrefu, and such a nice young lad is he that he recorded a song in my honor! Now, the song is titled "Dirty James", which may imply that I have less than average hygiene, but I still like the attention. That being said, I have been listening to a lot of Old Dirty Bastard lately, and I am after all: "the Osiris of this $#it, mother%@#%ers"... When I received the song from Conrad I put a bunch of his music on my mp3 thangy and listened to it while I drew him a picture and nursed a cup of coffee at Cafe Mediterraneum in Berkeley (they spell cafe with two f's but I refuse because it looks stuppidd). This art may look like the cover to a J.R.R. Tolkien themed indie-electro pop album, but Ndevu Nrefu's originality escapes even my oddest of invented sub-genres. Hey, remember last week, when I showed you those comics from Slambang: Issue 5, Vol. III? Well, here's what the front and back covers ended up looking like for that book. Just imagine them all glossy and smooth to the touch, ooooooooooooh yeeeaaaaaaah.
It's been about a year since this extra-long comic (by this blog's standards) originally came into print. But since so many of you probably didn't pick up a copy of The Fanatic Press' explosive comic anthology, "Slambang: Issue #5, Vol. III", I thought it would be only fair that I tape it up on the wall of the internet for all to enjoy. This particular issue of Slambang also includes an interview with yours truly, which touches on many important topics such as: proper placement of plastic dinosaurs within the domestic setting and the proper placement of orange pez and homebrew within my digestive tract. As if that weren't enough, I drew the front and back covers and I made sure that each is as intricate and colorful as a daffodil's delicate soul. So basically, you should have bought a copy a long time ago... and you probably still can! But why would you want to? You've already got the goods right here for free!
I'm back in California after a lovely and lengthy visit to Michigan. Michigan was cold and snowy, just as I had hoped. Yesterday, 1/11/11, I was on flight 111. Because I'm #1, or at least #111, which is still better than being #112. It's all relative people. Here's a little doodle that I doodled.
For someone who doesn't smoke, I sure do draw a lot of cigarette smoking cartoon characters. Do as I do, not as I doodle.
Well I've done it again, I'm out of town without access to a scanner. And so, here's what I can broadcast from Michigan: another old comic!
