Seems Reasonable

Keep voting for me, you beautiful mammals.

In other news the printmakers picnic at Mosswood Park in Oakland that was put on by Endless Canvas was the most fun, low-key art event I've sat around at in a while.

I'll have a table, or at least a piece (a mere smidgen?) of a table at the San Francisco Zine Festival next weekend in Golden Gate Park. It's a free event, Saturday and Sunday so come hang out.

Prints in the Picnic Basket

Fresh batches of Stobor and Beast Begat Beast are all printed up and ready for this weekend's Print Makers Picnic in Oakland. I'll be unfurling something dainty to present these printed goods on, not sure what that will be yet. Come hang out, look at some art, maybe buy some art... And if you've got some hand printed things for sale, you should come a little before 2 to unfurl something dainty to present your art in a pic-a-nic stylee as well.

Heres the official text for the event:

Fine art print sale in Mosswood Park!
A variety of artists will be displaying their work for sale in a casual environment.
Come meet other printmakers and socialize in the park.

This is a FREE EVENT

TIME:
Sunday, August 28 · 2:00pm – 7:00pm

LOCATION:
Mosswood Park
3612 Webster St
Oakland, CA

SF Weekly

Hey you guys, I somehow have been elected to be a contender for the best local cartoonist in the San Francisco Bay Area! I too, am pleasantly befuddled, but if you wouldn't mind voting for me over here > Vote for Gnartoons! , I wouldn't mind voting for you, should you choose to try to beat out a local Senator, Congressman, Governor, President, or Prince in a run for office - whatever your platform (really, I'm down - lets mix things up, eh?). But, what's really important right now is that you vote for me.

Beastie Preview Pages

Preview pages are up for the new book. Also, I wanted to add that you can find this booklet of important information regarding the breeding habits of sea serpents at the Rock Paper Scissors Collective in Oakland, CA (2278 Telegraph Ave.) in addition to most of the lovely stores on this list.

Beast Begat Beast

There's a new Gnartoons zine out on the market: Beast Begat Beast. It's a comic book all about lustful leviathans and the re-zoning of sea serpent maps. It's already on the shelves in stores in Chicago, Baltimore, Portland, Olympia, Seattle and Oakland, click here for the list of shops (I'll deliver copies to San Francisco, Berkeley, and Detroit as soon as I get this next batch folded up). You can also order a copy with seemingly-fake internet money through paypal here.

These are all of the cities where citizens can walk to their local book shop and buy Gnartoons Brand Comics right off of the shelves.

Vacation Mode

I'm just returning from some version of a vacation mode right now. I've been running around back and forth between Seattle/Olympia/Portland for the past week or so - delivering books to comic shops and book stores... More to come on that soon...

This drawreeng reflects the most relaxing version of any sort of vacation mode for me: looking out on Lake Michigan, presumably with an open bottle of a local micro-brew grasped loosely in my palm.

This drawing was for a Free Fridayz drawing contest on Fecalface.com.

Why?

This was an exercise from a poetry class at U of O that I turned into a comic many, many moons ago...

Drawing Monsters on Airplanes

I drew/wrote this on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago this summer. Usually I sleep through flights, but I didn't have any Dramamine with me. And so for that reason, we now have these monsters in our lives.

My apologies for any turbulent ridden lines.

Google+

If anybody out there is using Gurglr you can find me and follow my weird through that venue as well (James the Stanton). I'll be posting art and comics on there, believe it or not.

I drew this comic 5 years ago, and it's still sad. It was originally published in the Eugene Weekly.

Here's Monday's comic in color. I'm always trying to get more colors inside of your heads.
